On Thursday, September 22, at 3:35 AM, Stations 52, 53, and 55, were dispatched to 337 East Gay Street at the Italian Social Club for the building fire assignment. Shortly after dispatch, Engine 52-2, Ladder 53, Chief 52, Assistant 51, Assistant 52, and Assitant 53 responded to the assignment and were advised that police were onscene at the China King with heavy smoke conditions throughout the building. Assitant 51 arrived and advised of a small amount of fire from the roof and Chief 52 arrived shortly after, taking command. Ladder 53 arrived and took the front of the building followed by Engine 52-2 which layed a supply line to the scene. Once onscene 2 attack lines were pulled off of Engine 52-2 and crews from the WCFD stopped the fire from extending throughout the China King and surrounding buildings. The fire was quickly placed under control and all units were available by 6:15 AM. Thanks to Longwood, West Bradford, and Newtown Square for standing by in West Chester while our apparatus were at the fire.
