On Wednesday, December 30, around 230PM the box alarm was put out to the 900 block of Greystone Drive in West Goshen for the report of a house on fire. The initial assignment brought Station 52, 53, Engine 51-1, and 55 ambulance, but Chief 53 advised that he had a large smoke column visible and asked for the upgraded assignment. The working fire dispatch added Station 51 for the full company, Station 54/56 for RIT, and Medic 91. Engine 52-2, Ladder 53, and Engine 51-1 were quickly on the way when Chief 53 arrived with a 2 1/2 story single family dwelling, with fire showing from the Alpha side. Engine 52-2 arrived, dropped a line and stretched a 2.5" attack line to the attached garage that was well off. Engine 51-1 arrived and picked up Engine 52-2's line at the hydrant, while their crew stretched a back up line. Ladder 53 then arrived and the crew split, followed by Engine 52-1 who dropped a secondary supply line and stretched a third attack line. The bulk of the fire was quickly knocked down and after opening up to check for extension it was clear that majority of the fire was held to the garage area. One firefighter from Station 52 was transported to the hospital with minor burns and units were available a few hours later.
