WCFD Fights Working Basement Fire During Snow Storm

On Wednesday, January 22, at 1:02AM, Stations 51, 53, and 55 Ambulance were dispatched to 3 Jacqueline Drive in Westtown for the house fire. Ladder 53, Engine 51-2, Brush 51, and Engine 53 quickly responded due to there being overnight staffing in all three West Chester firehouses during the snow storm. Ladder 53 arrived and found smoke showing. They were followed by the other responding units. Shortly after arrival heavy smoke was found pouring from the basement door and fire was then visible. Chief 51 arrived and assumed command and requested Tanker 52 to the scene. Upon dispatch the Tanker hit the street with a crew of 3 and quickly arrived, supplying Engine 53 with all 3,000 gallons of water. A few minutes after the Tanker arrived, the Chief requested the balance of Station 52 to the scene, Engine 52-1 and Air 52 then made the response. After an aggressive interior attack the fire was brought under control at 0155 hours. All units were clear of the fireground at 3:59AM.
