At 0551 on Friday, January 25, several hours after clearing a vehicle fire, Station 52 was dispatched for an engine and tanker to assist Station 39 (West Bradford) on the second alarm assignment at a working church fire. Station 39 crews arrived on location with fire showing and found a well established basement fire extending through the first floor and into the attic. Prior to response, the request for the tanker was cancelled per command. Engine 52-1 (Davis) responded shortly after with a crew of 5 to supplement RIT crews on scene. Engine 52-1 arrived on location approximately 15 minutes later and set up for an extended RIT operation. Crews performed constant 360 degree reviews of the fire building while monitoring conditions, hazards, crew locations and means of egress and entry to the crews inside. Crews from Engine Co. 52 assisted with cleanup and fireground support towards the end of operations. Crews also used the end of fireground operations as a training opportunity to refresh themselves with fire tactics and building construction in special consideration buildings commonly found throughout the WCFD first due response area. Engine 52-1 was released by command at approximately 0830. Great stop by crews.
