Around 8pm on Friday, July 1, the West Chester Fire Department was dispatched to Taylors Mill Road for the reported house fire. Engine 51-1 (First West Chester) was onscene at another emergency and quickly went onscene on Taylors Mill Road confirming smoke from the roof of the house and the assignment was upgraded to a working fire, bringing RIT (rapid intervention team) and an additional engine from 54 (Goshen) and also an engine from 46 (Downingtown). Ladder 53 (Fame) went onscene in a matter of minutes followed closely by Engine 52-2, Engine 53, and Air 52. The ladder crew provided ventilation to the house while Engine 51-1 and Engine 52-2's crews each pulled a handline and quickly extinguished the fire. Crews then checked a large area of the dweilling for extension, checking inside the walls of the dwelling for any sign of fire, before placing the fire under control. All units returned to quarters around 10:30. Thanks to Lionville, West Whiteland, and Concordville for standing-by for other incidents in West Chester while we were at the fire.
