Thank You Chief Stafford

December 31, 2020 marks not only the end of a year unlike any other, it is also the culmination of Good Will’s own Jonathan Stafford’s tenure as Chief of the Department.

Jon has been an active member of the Good Will since the 1990s. His work ethic and strong abilities to think strategically as well as tactically helped Jon to steadily rise through the Officer ranks in the Company. Jon was voted in as Assistant Chief starting in 2012 and during that time he led the Company through not only 2,500 calls, but also the devastating LODD of Captain Chris Good.

Jon was sworn in as Chief of the West Chester Fire Department on November 15, 2017. During his term Jon led his Assistants and the active crews through more than 4,000 fire calls, thousands of hours of training, increased recruitment efforts, upgrades to statistical reporting across the department, and the delivery of new Scott air packs to all department stations, among many other activities. And with this year being unlike any other year in living memory, Jon oversaw unprecedented changes in procedures and responses across the department to keep firefighters and the community as safe as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic. And as a reminder, our department is 100% volunteer so Jon performed all of this work, as a volunteer, while also working full time as a police officer. His dedication not only to the Good Will, but also to the WCFD as a whole is apparent through his accomplishments and his pride in the department is crystal clear to anyone who knows him.

Thank you, Jon, for your commitment not only to the West Chester Fire Department but also to the community as a whole.
