A longtime volunteer firefighter from Tullytown Borough has died of COVID-19.

Rick Johnson, a current assistant chief and former chief in the borough, passed away early Saturday morning.

In addition to his duties leading Tullytown firefighters, Johnson, 50, served as a member of the Bucks County Firefighter and EMS Memorial Honor Guard that attended events throughout the county.

Johnson, who served in the fire service for close to 30 years, was a father and husband.

On Friday night, Tullytown firefighters parked their trucks outside the local hospital where Johnson was being treated and switched on the emergency lights as a show of support.

Johnson marks the 12th death in Bucks County due to COVID-19.

The assistant chief’s death comes a day after the Tullytown Fire Company announced the passing of another member Syl Damiani.
