Happy New Year. The West Chester Fire Department started the New Year off quite busy. With three runs on December 31,2019 and five runs January 1,2020. December ended with a fire alarm in the 100bl W Chestnut St as the Good Will crew was covering for Station 51 who was assisting West Bradford Fire Company on a house fire. Shortly after clearing the automatic fire alarm the department was dispatched to the 1100bl Copeland School Rd for an appliance fire. A stove fire had extended into some cabinets. The crew from Station 51 checked for extension and crews cleared shortly after. On the way back to station, 52 and 53 were dispatched for an odor investigation outside in the 800bl Countryside Ln. Crews checked the area and cleared without incident. The next day would prove to be busier. The day started with a gas leak at 0800 hours in the area of Maple/Edkin Lanes in West Goshen. At 0900 hours the Good Will was alerted to a fire alarm in the 200bl Garfield Avenue. With a short rest in between crews from all three companies were dispatched to Thornbury township at 1153 hours for an outbuilding fire. This was discovered to be routine generator operations and the crews cleared. Prior to returning to station the Department was hit out for an appliance fire in the 400bl S Walnut St. The 53 crew removed the appliance without incident. At 1828 hours the Department was dispatched for a house fire in the 200bl Blue Rock Rd. The crews arrived to find fire through the roof. The fire was quickly knocked by a crew from Station 51 and all units assisted with extensive overhaul. Crews ended the busy day around 2041 hours. Again Happy New Year to all.
