Working Fire in the First Due

On Monday, at approximately 19:40 the WCFD along with Good Fellowship Ambulance where dispatched to the 100 block of E Miner Street for the Reported Bedroom Fire in a Dwelling. Shortly after Dispatch Chief 52, Engine 52-2 (Lt. Creager), Engine 52-1 (FF D. Casner), Air 52 (FF S. Cottrell) quickly went en route, along with Ladder 53 (Fame Fire Co.) and Engine 51-2 (First West Chester Fire Co.).

Chief 52 and Engine 52-2 arrived to find heavy smoke conditions inside with a fire in the bedroom closet. Command upgraded to the Working Fire, which added Stations 54/56 (Goshen Fire Company). Engine 52-2 got a 1 3/4" line in service, and stretched it to the bedroom. Shortly after Ladder 53, along with Engine 52-1 and Engine 51-2 arrived, Engine 51-2 laying in from a hydrant behind ladder 53, putting a second hand line in service and Engine 52-1 nosed into a hydrant and hand drug a 5" supply line to Engine 52-2. The fire was quickly extinguished and it was held to 52, 53 units. Tanker 52 (FF A. Smiley) and Squad 52 (FF L. Pierson) also made the response to the call.

Later that night while Engine 52-2 was cleaning up and packing their 1 3/4" line , the WCFD was notified for the reported Apartment Fire in at the Green Tree Building on North High Street. Engines 52-2 (Lt. Creager), 52-1 (FF D. Casner), Air 52 (FF S. Cottrell), 51-2, 51-1 and Ladder 53 quickly responded. Engine 51-2 and 51-1 arrived to find a small fire in a heater and reduced the rate of the incoming units. While cleaning up, the WCFD was alerted to a Gas Odor across the street, Units checked the building and it was marked unfounded and units went available. Squad 52 (FF A. Smiley) made the response.
