| On Wednesday April 8th the West Chester Fire Department was dispatched for smoke in the building at the Chester County Hospital. First arriving chiefs reported moderate smoke emanating from HVAC vents by the Emergency Department entrance. Crews went into service and located a involved dryer fire in the basement of the hospital. Crews were able to contain the fire to the original unit involved. Due to the large amount of noxious smoke put off by the fire many patients in the Emergency Department were temporarily relocated to other units in the hospital. The fire was contained and extinguished rapidly and units then went into service to remove the large amount of smoke in the building. Crews remained on scene until the building was made safe again for all the patients and staff. Assisting the West Chester Fire Department was the Goshen Fire Co, Good Fellowship Ambulance Club and Chester County Hospital's own Medic 91. Crews were in service for approximately an hour and half. There were no reported firefighter or civilian injuries. |
