Around noon on Thursday, May 11, the commercial building fire response was dispatched to a business in the 900 block of Fernhill Road. FM52 (West Goshen Township Fire Marshal) has advised Chester County Fire Radio to dispatch the box, due to heavy smoke being visible from a hopper containing metal shavings about 50 feet off the ground. Engine 53 arrived and dropped over 1000' of supply line, followed by Engine 52-2 picking up the hydrant. Engine 51-1, Tower 54, Engine 56, and Engine 52-1 then arrived as crews were stretching the initial attack line. Members from Engine 51-1 and Engine 52-2 knocked all fire on the interior of the building, while crews from Tower 54 and the remaining crew of Engine 51-1 knocked the fire in the storage silo. The incident was placed under control in about 30 minutes and all units cleared the scene in approximately 2 hours. Engine 52-2 (Lt. Davis), Engine 52-1 (FF Widmayer), and Squad 52 (FF Cottrell) all made the response. Photo credit to Goshen Fire Company, Billy Ronayne, Dave Smiley Sr., Dave Smiley Jr.
