This past Saturday and Sunday, members of the WCFD took part in the “Firefighter Safety & Survival” class that was held through The Chester County Department of Emergency Services. Students spent the weekend learning and practicing techniques that centered around safety and survival for firefighters.

Saturday's class focused on lecture in the morning and hands on training in the afternoon. On Sunday, the students traveled to The Chester County Public Safety Training Campus in Coatesville for the practical portion of the class that consisted of window bailouts, below grade self rescue techniques, and the confidence maze. The students were challenged physically and mentally during this training, and overcame self doubts and fears to complete the scenarios they were tasked to achieve.
