| On Sunday, March 5, around 5:30PM, Station 52 was dispatched to a residence in the unit block of North Matlack Street for the reported appliance fire. Engine 52-2 (Captain DiMeo) and Engine 52-1 (FF T. Crum) made the response and arrived to find a three story rowhome with nothing evident. After making entry crews found a kerosene heater on fire in the hallway, with a malfunctioning emergency shut off. The heater was quickly removed from the home and extinguished, with no extension found. Earlier in the day Tanker 52 (FF Smiley Jr.) made the response to a reported house on fire in the 6 box area. After making a five minute response, the assignment was reduced to Engine 6-1. |
