On Saturday, January 28, the new Engine 52-2 was placed in service via Chester County Fire Radio, after hours of getting the equipment and hose lines readied. Just an hour after it's official in service announcement a fire alarm was dispatched to the 500 block of Owen Road in West Goshen, and the Engine quickly responded with a crew of 5, followed by Engine 52-1 with 3. Both Engine's arrived to find no emergency and quickly returned to quarters. Five volunteers then staffed the firehouse overnight, before training and cleaning the firehouse on Sunday. At 3:49PM on Sunday, the company was dispatched to the 700 block of Old Westtown Road for a trash fire. Engine 52-2 responded with 4, and arrived as the assignment was being upgraded to a box alarm. The crew stretched 200' of 3" and 150' of 1.75" from the base of the driveway due to accessibility being limited. All fire was quickly extinguished and units cleared up in about 45 minutes. As members were restoring equipment, another box alarm was dispatched to the area of Route 202 and Greentree Drive for the reported residential fire. Engine 52-2 (Captain DiMeo) and Tanker 52 (FF Smiley Jr.) made the response in under a minute, but were recalled prior to arrival.
