At 12:25 AM on the morning of Thursday, April 6th, Stations 52, 53, and 55 were dispatched to 410 South High Street, at the Burger King, for the building fire. Chief 51 responded and was advised that the manager was reporting a mulch fire had spread to the top of the drive thru window. The Chief then arrived onscene confirming the report and took High Street command. Ladder 53 then arrived placing the aerial to the roof and Engine 53 arrived shortly after with Engine 52-2 in tail. Engine 53's crew pulled a 1 3/4 inch attack line and Engine 52-2's crew went to work while Chauffer Crum and Jr. Firefighter Smiley reverse layed from Engine 53 to a hydrant at the corner of Dean and High Streets. Engine 52-1 and Rescue 53 arrived shortly after and the WCFD's crews made a very quick stop on the fire. The incident was placed under control at 12:47 and all crews returned to quarters by 2:00.
