On Saturday, July 7, Engine 52-2 (FF Smiley Jr.) and Engine 52-1 (FF T. Crum) operated at this major outside gas leak in the 200 block of West Miner Street. The call was dispatched around 1130 hours, initially bringing 51 and 53 crews to the scene. Crews had high readings in multiple building on the block, and at around 1430 hours Engine Company 52 was called to the scene as relief. While on scene, members monitored levels in four buildings, and also manned an 1.75" line in case of any fire. Once PECO arrived onscene it was determined a hole had to be dug in the area of West Miner and South Darlington Streets in or to stop the leak. The situation was placed under control around 5PM and all units were available shortly after.
