This morning around 7AM, Stations 54/56 (Goshen), 52, and Delaware County 41 (Newtown Square), were alerted to the 1100 block of S. Chester Rd for a reported house fire. Engine 52-2 (Captain Barry), along with Ladder 56, Engine 54-1, and Captain 54 made the response within minutes, and Chester County Fire Communications advised that multiple calls were being received. Captain 54 arrived with a large single family dwelling with fire from the roof, then upgrading the assignment to a working fire. Engine 54-1 and Ladder 56 arrived a short time later, and began to make a knock. Engine 52-2 arrived and laid 1500' of five inch supply line, while crews then transitioned and made the push inside. A 2nd alarm was then added, bringing multiple other mutual aid companies. Tanker 52 (FF Crum), Air 52 (Lt. DiMeo), Squad 52 (FF Smiley Sr.), and Assistant 52 also made the response to the scene. Good Will crews operated multiple hose lines inside multiple rooms of the dwelling, while others opened up ceilings and walls to check for active fire. All 52 units were back in quarters in about 4.5 hours. No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported, and a majority of the fire was kept to an old veterinary office and garage, with minor extension to the occupied dwelling.
