Recently several members of the Good Will Fire Company No.2 have completed major milestones in both their personal lives and firefighting careers. One area that the officers of the company focus their attention on is to both acknowledge the achievements of the members of the company and to motivate the members to further their career, both in and out of the firehouse. The members and officers of the Good Will Fire Company No.2 would like to acknowledge and congratulate the following members:
Lieutenant Alex Creager is set to graduate from the Pennsylvania State University; Lieutenant Creager began his firefighting career at the Good Will Fire Company No.2 in 2005 and served as a Junior Firefighter, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st Class Firefighter, and was elected to the office of Lieutenant in 2012. Lieutenant Creager volunteered with the Alpha Fire Company, in State College, and majored in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management. Lieutenant Creager has been an asset since he became a member of the company and continues to be an asset while serving as a Lieutenant. It should also be noted that Lieutenant Creager was still one of the top responders while attending PSU!
Firefighter John Sluk and Gerardo Jimenez recently completed the Pumper Driver/Operator course conducted by the Chester County Department of Emergency Services. Firefighter Jimenez has been a member of the company for 3 years and obtained the rank of 2nd Class Firefighter. Firefighter Jimenez is a tremendous asset to the company both on and off the fire ground, he can typically be found at the firehouse working with the younger members of the company. Firefighter Sluk joined the company in 2009 and has also been a tremendous asset to the company. Firefighter Sluk currently serves as a Trustee for the company and can usually be found at the firehouse working on a project or assisting the younger members of the company. Firefighter Sluk is currently a 3rd Class firefighter and is working on being a qualified driver on Air 52.
Firefighter Kyle McCorkle completed PA State Firefighter I two weeks ago and is set to graduate at the upcoming graduation ceremony. Kyle joined the Good Will Fire Company No.2 in 2008 as a Cadet Firefighter and has served as a Cadet, Junior, and currently is serving as an Apprentice Firefighter. Kyle has been an asset to the company and still finds time to volunteer with us while attending West Chester East High School and competing on the Hockey Team. The Firefighter I program is designed as an entry level training course to train firefighters in the basic skills that are required to be proficient on the fire ground.
Firefighter Tracey Axelrod completed the PA Department of Health Basic Vehicle Rescue Program conducted by the Chester County Department of Emergency Services. The course is designed to instruct students in vehicle construction, vehicle stabilization, and basic and advanced extrication practices. While the Good Will Fire Company is primarily an Engine Company, the officers feel that a cross trained and well rounded member is the best kind to have.
The members and officers look forward to all of our members gaining from the knowledge these members have gained through the various courses that they have completed.
